Inside Nova Hale's Night-Walk Recordings

How a Manchester producer turned two years of 3am field recordings into a debut record.

Nova Hale records almost everything outdoors, then destroys it indoors.

The walks "I started walking at night because I could not sleep," she says. "The recorder came along because I felt stupid walking with nothing."

The process Field recordings are resampled into a granular engine, pitched into chords, then re-amped through a guitar cabinet in a stairwell.

The record Glass Cathedral is the first thing she has released that she describes as finished.
